Spring begins for me when the first heirloom narcissus start popping up. With the hot days at the end of April, they all popped out at once instead of the slow succession I planned for. Some of my favorites are Sherborne and Gay Tabor. The inner frills of Gay Tabor are so intensely orange; they remind me of marmalade. We have so many gorgeous types of narcissus. There are peach toned ones: Pink Charm, Replete, Delnashaugh, and Brittish Gamble. There are orange ones: Gay Tabor, Barrett Browning, Love Call and Orangerie. And of course, there are yellow ones: Sherborne, Ice Follies, White Lion, Yellow Cheerfulness, Martha Stewart, Moonlight, Jonquilla Pueblo, and Dutch Master.

We made our first bouquets of the season, and they are at our new sales location inside Local Hair Lounge in Amherst, NH!
We've begun transplanting seedlings started indoors over the winter into the farm rows. So far we've planted out sweet peas 'Anniversary' and 'Black Knight', lupine 'My Castle', Canterbury Bells, calendula 'Bronze Beauty' from Floret and 'Orange Flash', snapdragons Johnny's 'Potomac Early Sunrise Mix' and 'Costa Mix II', orlaya, strawflower 'Apricot/Peach Mix' and 'Bright Rose,' gomphrena (globe amaranth), echinops (globe thistle), scabiosa (pincushion flower), and annual phlox 'Phlox of Sheep'. I love that name.
